Jesus stopped for Bartimaeus‘ cry
Turned for the woman with an issue of blood
Looked up for Zacchaeus
Crossed a storm-ravaged lake
for the man in the graveyard
(well the man’s mum never called him Legion)
He travelled days for Lazarus
Went to the pool for the cripple
Touched the leper AND healed him
Fed the hungry
Went to the well for a thirsty woman
Sent religious hypocrites packing
to defend another woman
Shut up his followers to bless the kids
He healed Peter’s mother in law
Jesus gave sight to a blind man
Hearing to a deaf man
Speech to a man who could not talk
He healed the hand of another
Cured a young boy oppressed by hell
Redirected the path of a lost tax collector
Gave new purpose to some fishermen
Jesus used the ordinary for the extraordinary
He constantly and consistently ministered
to the individual not just the multi
He would move the WHOLE resource
of the church for the sake of one person at a time
He showed the power of security
and confidence in God as His Father
He moved mountains
Stilled storms
Silenced doubt
Cast out fear
Demystified prayer
And all of this was before
He died on a cross for me,
That’s why this Sunday,
like every other Sunday,
regardless of festivals and football
Despite temptation and tiredness
I’ll be with other FOLLOWERS of Jesus
I’ll be at church thanking Him
for moving heaven and earth
For unleashing the whole power of the church
For sending His Holy Spirit
For ME,
He saw me,
He heard me,
He healed me,
He gave me purpose,
He gave me strength,
He gave me compassion
He gave me hope
Where else would I want to be
I’ll be in church
