on the waves through the night
down the coast and over the sea
rushing to Dublin, my honey to see
after our call after midnight
with Paul I sneaked away
no notice no warning
no words did I say,
to Pembroke, to a boat
to cross the sea, to a bus
to the city my honey to see
Busaras, the Liffey up Lombard St East
hiya to Anna as she beckons me
“Tracy, Georgies here” she fibs
up the stairs, “get up I’m coming
to you”, to the first flight to the second flight,
the attic door WE stand, mama calls
“Tracy, its time to waken
to your dreamland”
Tracy, my honey, slowly opens
her eyes, looks past mama Anna
and sees her surprise
I’m standing in Dublin, in City Quay
beside her, not in Penygroes,
not in Wales, not far away
her blues eyes now stirring,
her beauty awakens, she fixes
on me as her lips breathe her greeting
surprised and amazed at me standing
so near, my honey breathes out
and sweetly whispers to
me – “you’re here”
Now twenty years later
as I think on that gaze
that told me our love was
the sweetest of honey of
all of our days
her impulse, her smile
her sweet response to me
my honey I love you, truly madly deeply
